Check imaging
- Check collection agencies use local sites to collect MICR information and check images, then send that information to a central processor
- VA medical centers coast to coast - replace
microfilmer, look toward remote deposit possibilities
- County offices and credit unions put hundreds
and thousands of checks on file daily for automatic retrieval
using MICR coded information captured automatically during scanning
and/or additional details and coding. Checks are archived to
CD periodically for off-site storage.
- ChekScan MySQL Workgroup is now automating
East Coast bank with proof of deposit system, centralizing images,
feeding in-house imaging system and core financials.
- Bank with branches. A midwestern bank with
multiple branches installed ChekScan Enterprise to handle distributed
check scanning, storage, retrieval, and reports.

effectively, quickly, with more features
- Dispersed credit union branches: Pacific
Northwest credit union centralizes image collection, research,
backup over 16 locations
- Service businesses: A uniform rental company
takes in 500 checks a day - uses ChekScan to replace hours of
standing in front of a copier. A check cashing service now has
a way to track, prepare, and simplify its deposits;

directly from association to central storage and management.
- Federal Reserve Bank - one of the Federal
Reserve branches uses ChekScan to handle exception processing
- City auditor required scanning of
5,000 checks a day through a CANON CF250 dedicated off-line

Remittance coupon processing
- County treasurer's office - property tax
system: installed TAXMANager, a custom system to scan payment
coupons and checks, read the barcode on the coupon, and create
batches for review. The operators review each batch, and post
as completed. Reconciliation reports are printed, and all the
day's batches are consolidated into an upload file which is
transferred to the AS/400 financial system as part of the paid
tax reconciliation system, integrating into the Jefferson County
custom software on the AS/400. The system handles the scanning
of thousands of checks and bar-coded payment coupons per day,
and utilizes an Italian scanner which not only reads the image
but also the MICR code of checks in one pass. Software reads
the barcode for account information, producing an upload file
for the host AS/400 financial system.

Document imaging
- District Attorney's office: sought
and found in a PaperClip system an approach to archiving complex
and voluminous information on court cases. The 25-user PaperClip
image system utilizes 100Mb network connections and a 54Gb disk
array subsystem with optical disk backup for instant image display
in support of lawyers, and to replace worn out microfilm readers.
We developed TabVIEW for another county, to provide organization
within the electronic folder approach, and to give users greater
versatility in indexing and retrieving information.
- Oil exploration company - Denver,
CO:This branch office of a Houston Oil services company (which
has implemented PaperClip internationally) has started operations
with the newest version of PaperClip, PaperClip32, running on
an NT 4.0 server, scanning in 300,000 oil well logs from all
over the west.
- Steel distribution company - Denver, CO.
CommuniConsultants installed a custom imaging system for nationwide
distribution of steel mill Quality Control Test Reports via
frame relay connections to five remote warehouses throughout
the country. Mill test reports are scanned and placed on file
on a Windows95 Server, and connected directly to the host computer
(PICK operating system) via an RS-232 link. The link is two-way,
so that when the operator creates new images the indexing information
is passed up to the host automatically, and the link then goes
back to listening for a command request to fetch and print an
image to a distant warehouse.
- Soft drink bottler -- Denver, CO: We created
custom programming to efficiently convert CF 250 images to CCITT
G4, write upload files which were compatible with the OPTIKA
transact structure, load 250 MB of images per day on tape, and
transfer them to the imaging system with a minimum of operator
intervention.
