Front and back images
The scanner scans both front and back images
of a check. However, the back image is only saved if requested.
How the image is saved can make a large difference
in retrieval time and storage space. Combining them "on the
fly" at the time of scanning slows the scanner but creates
one image to be stored instead of two. Combining images after
the fact, when the images are retrieved, involves merging two
separate images. The choice of saving more or less efficiently
is a function of whether the system is retrieval driven, or archival
driven. The combined image can be printed, faxed, or e-mailed.
Images can be displayed as front only, or combined
front and back.
With ChekScan
Enterprise, scanned images may be combined into a single SQL
field. This can be done at the time the images are scanned, or
later, using different methods.
